Is the free Cloudflare plan enough for my business?
For most small and mid-sized UK businesses, yes. The free plan includes global CDN, DNS, SSL, DDoS protection and basic firewall rules — genuinely substantial. Paid plans start to make sense when you need the full managed WAF ruleset, advanced bot management, or image optimisation at volume. We'll tell you which features you'd actually use before recommending you spend anything.
Will Cloudflare make my site faster?
Usually, and sometimes dramatically — static assets get served from a data centre near the visitor instead of your origin server. But it isn't magic: if pages are slow because the code is slow or the database is untuned, caching hides that for anonymous visitors and not for logged-in ones. We measure first and tell you which kind of slow you have.
Can Cloudflare stop bots and form spam?
Largely, yes. Rate limiting, bot scoring and Turnstile between them remove the overwhelming majority of automated form submissions and login attempts, without a puzzle for genuine users to solve. Determined targeted abuse needs application-level work too — we build that alongside rather than pretending the edge catches everything.
Do Cloudflare and Vercel work together?
Yes, and it's a common pairing — Cloudflare for DNS, firewall and bot protection, Vercel for the application. It does need care: double-proxying and mismatched cache rules cause confusing behaviour if nobody's thought about which layer owns caching. We configure it so each layer has a defined job.
How much does Cloudflare setup cost?
A DNS migration with sensible caching and firewall rules is typically a small fixed-price piece of work measured in days rather than weeks. Workers development and R2 integrations are quoted with the project they belong to.
